'Superhero' Orland Park Mom 'Is The Most Selfless Woman In This World'

ORLAND PARK, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom is a nurse. She works long, hard hours, especially since many hospitals are so understaffed lately. She makes every patient feel loved, seen, and cared for, and still keeps in touch with previous patients and their families. She has six kids, and despite working such long hours, she never fails to be there for each of us, supporting and loving us. She has had a number of health scares over the year, but that never stops her from giving her absolute all to her family, friends, and work. She lights up every room she walks into. She’s one of the funniest, most positive and uplifting people in this world. On her days off, she spends her time watching her friend’s kids, taking them to school and doctor’s appointments so her friend can get to work and not worry. My mom is the most selfless woman in this world, and I aspire to be like her one day.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She is a fighter. She has had to overcome so much hardship throughout her life, and she’s done it with such grace and strength. She has impacted the lives of so many with her compassion, empathy, patience and love. She works so hard yet always finds the energy and time for the people that matter most to her. She calls and texts her kids every single day to check in and remind them that she loves them. She is a superhero.
