OSWEGO, IL — Fifteen high school students from Oswego School District 308 were named "all-state musicians" by the Illinois Music Educators Association, officials announced.

Eight of the students attend Oswego High School, and the other seven are students at Oswego East High School. They join other Illinois students in grades 10–12 who earned the highest scores at the district level during the District 9 Music Festival in November.

The ILMEA features all-state bands, choirs, orchestras, jazz bands, vocal jazz ensembles, jazz combos, composer showcases and future music educator symposiums.

To be considered an all-state musician, students are required to attend the district festival in its entirety to then potentially be selected from all participants for all-state ensembles and individual honors, officials said in a news release.

The 15 Oswego students will go on to participate in the all-state musician festival Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 in Peoria.
