Boil Order Issued In Old Downtown Oswego

Public Works staff are working to fix a broken main that requires the order to remain in effective for at least 24 hours, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — A boil order has been issued for residences in a 12-block radius of old downtown Oswego as of Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Officials cited a water main in need of emergency repair as the reason for the boil order. The issue impacts water pressure in the area.

Public Works staff are on scene fixing the problem, which requires the boil order to remain in effect for at least 24 hours, according to village officials.

The following blocks are impacted:

  • Adams St. from Tyler St. to Benton St.
  • Main St. from Benton St. to Judson Ave.
  • Douglas St. from Maple St. to Judson Ave.
  • Madison St. from Van Buren St. to Judson Ave.
  • Monroe St. from Washington to Wilson Place
  • Van Buren St. from Madison St. to Washington St.
  • Tyler St. from Madison St. to Washington St.
  • Benton St. from Adams St. to Wilson Place
  • Maple St. from Main St. to Madison St.
  • Wilson Place from Main St. to Benton St.
  • Judson Ave. from Main St. to Monroe St.

Village officials recommend residents in impacted areas to use bottled or boiled water for drinking and cooking. Additional guidelines can be found online.

Residents will be notified when the boil order is lifted.

People living and working in other parts of Oswego can continue to use tap water as usual, officials said.
