Boy Threatens Boulder Hill Neighbors With Bat, Several Hurt In Fight: Sheriff

Multiple people sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a large fight broke out on Old Post Road in Boulder Hill, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — A boy is facing multiple charges after it was reported he threatened Boulder Hill neighbors with a baseball bat Saturday afternoon, officials at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said.

The juvenile was charged with robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and mob action, officials said.

Deputies were called at about 12:17 p.m. to Old Post Road for a report of someone threatening the residents of a nearby house with a bat. By the time law enforcement arrived, the boy had fled and was not immediately located.

Around 6:55 p.m., deputies were called back to the same location for a report of a large fight involving multiple people who later received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release. After taking down a description of the vehicle involved and finding it, officials developed the boy as a suspect and took him into custody after further investigation.

Deputy Dan Briars said the boy was charged with aggravated assault due to threatening someone with a baseball bat and aggravated battery for committing battery in a public place. He will be tried as a juvenile, the sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

Crews from the Oswego and Montgomery police departments and the Oswego Fire Protection District assisted the sheriff's office in the investigation.

The boy was processed at the Kendall County jail and in custody at the Juvenile Justice Center as of Monday afternoon.
