Couch Set On Fire Prompts Oswego Police Investigation

Several boys retrieved a couch from garbage at the curb in the 700 block of Juniper Street and set it on fire at a nearby park, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — A case of arson that took place Sunday at an Oswego park is under investigation by police, officials said.

Oswego police got a call at 3:43 p.m. reporting a fire at the park near Linden Drive and Sequoia Court. The person calling did not know what was on fire, police spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.

Nevara said that after talking to witnesses, police learned several boys retrieved a couch from garbage at the curb in the 700 block of Juniper Street and were seen walking northbound on the road carrying the furniture.

Police reported the incident in Monday's blotter. The arson is currently under investigation.
