OSWEGO, IL — A new executive director of athletics has been appointed at Oswego Community Unit School District 308, officials announced.

Dan Arntzen, who currently works as the district's executive director of high schools and K-12 assessments, will also serve as the athletic director at Oswego High School. He will begin his new role July 1, taking over from Darren Howard, who will depart June 30 for a new job at St. Charles East High School.

In his current role, Arntzen oversees high school academic and administrative operations and develops and implements district-wide assessment strategies meant to drive student success. Officials said his "deep understanding of the educational landscape and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders" will make him "invaluable" in his new role.
