Do You Live in One of the 50 Safest Cities in Illinois?

The FBI recently published data on crime rates in the U.S. from which ValuePenguin calculated a “crime score” for 298 cities in Illinois.

ValuePenguin determined the scores by weighing violent crimes at 90 percent and property crimes at 10 percent, figuring residents might be more concerned about violence when determining the safety of their towns; even though property-related crimes are more frequent.

Towns with fewer than 5,000 residents were not included because their small populations made them more sensitive to slight crime score fluctuations.

Here are the top 50 safest cities in Illinois, according to ValuePenguin’s calculations.
