Flood Warning In Kendall County: Flooding In Oswego, Yorkville

OSWEGO, IL — A flood warning was in place for Kane and Kendall counties early Friday, set to expire at 7 a.m. Sunday. As of 4:30 a.m. Friday, the Fox River at Montgomery was at 13.19 feet, above the 13-foot flood stage.

In Yorkville, the Fox River was at 13.66 feet as of 4:45 a.m., below the flood "action" stage of 14 feet.

According to the National Weather Service, overnight storms were expected to continue through mid-morning before cooler temperatures move into the area. While much of the long term forecast is dry and mild, there is another chance for rain or storms Saturday night into early Sunday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, flooding and continued rain were having the following impacts as of early Friday:

  • Industrial structures are threatened along Harrison Street in Oswego.
  • A few residences threatened along IL-25 (East River Road) in Montgomery. A few residences are threatened along Marina Drive between Montgomery and Oswego.
  • IL-25 (East River Road) is threatened near Boulder Hill Pass and near 1st Avenue in Montgomery. Harrison Street is threatened in Oswego.
  • Numerous sections of Fox River Trail are threatened in Oswego.
  • Residences are threatened along River Street near Ashland Avenue in Montgomery.
  • Low-lying sections of Hudson Crossing Park are inundated in Oswego.
  • Low-lying park land inundated along IL-25 between Montomgery and Oswego.
  • Water overtops low-lying banks near Saw Wee Kee State Park.
  • Structures threatened at Riverfront Park in Yorkville.
  • A few residences threatened along River Street in Yorkville.
  • IL-24 (Van Emmon Road) threatened east of Yorkville.
  • A few structures threatened along Riverview Court between Yorkville and Oswego. Hydraulic Avenue threatened at Riverfront Park in Yorkville.
  • Residences threatened along Riverside Street east of Yorkville. Millhurst Road threatened west of Fox River Drive between Yorkville and Millbrook.
  • Structures threatened at Yorkville Bristol Sanitary in Yorkville.
  • Yorkville Bristol Sanitary property threatened in Yorkville.
  • Low-lying sections of Hide Away Lakes Campground inundated.
  • Trails threatened at Riverfront Park in Yorkville.
  • Water overtops low-lying banks near Silver Springs State Park.
  • Water overtops low-lying banks in Yorkville near Riverfront Park.

Conditions were worse in other areas including Lake County, where emergency crews were carrying residents from their flooded homes amid a flash flood warning.
