KENDALL COUNTY, IL — From his time in the United States Air Force beginning in 1964 to his retirement as Kendall County Sheriff in 2014, Richard A. Randall has dedicated much of his life to public service.

Throughout his career in law enforcement, Sheriff Randall (ret.) has served in numerous roles beginning at the Yorkville Police Department in 1968. He worked his way through the ranks of the Yorkville Police Department, ultimately serving as Chief of Police from 1979 to 1986. Sheriff Randall (ret.) then took office as the Sheriff of Kendall County in 1986. He was elected to serve in that role a total of seven times, until his retirement in 2014. He also served with the Bristol-Kendall Fire Department from 1968 until his retirement as Captain in 2012. Sheriff Randall (ret.) was instrumental in relocating the Sheriff’s Office from an 1880s-era jail to the modern facility we occupy today. He also incorporated a countywide 9-1-1 communications center, the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency, the Kendall County Jail, and the administrative offices for the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office into that facility.
