OSWEGO, IL — A new event in Oswego will serve not only as a wine tasting but as a breast cancer benefit concert, village officials announced.

The inaugural Wine Off the Fox, happening Oct. 22 at Venue 1012, was planned to help support local and national breast cancer organizations during October's breast cancer awareness month, officials said. Three organizations — Rush Copley/Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center, Edward Foundation Breast Program Fund and the American Cancer Society — were selected to receive 10 percent of the event's ticket proceeds.

A silent auction, both online and on-site, will help raise additional funds for the three groups.

"Wine OFF the Fox highlights breast cancer awareness, raises funds, and allows our community to enjoy live entertainment and a wine tasting," Village President Troy Parlier said in a statement. "Join us at Venue 1012 to support this worthy cause."

For most ticket holders, the event will kick off at 2 p.m. But for those who purchase the VIP package, a VIP reception featuring an exclusive wine tasting and soloist performance will be held from 1-2 p.m.
