Oswego H.S. Wins Crosstown Challenge Trophy

OSWEGO, IL —Oswego High School has taken home the Crosstown Challenge trophy, given to the Oswego high school who has won the most varsity crosstown sports games in the previous year. Oswego High School was given the trophy on the night of the Crosstown Challenge football game, when Oswego H.S. beat Oswego East 14-3.

The Allied Bank Crosstown Challenge traveling trophy was presented to Oswego High School Principal Mike Wayne. Presented by Allied first Bank, the bank also provided each school with a check for $2,500 for their participation in the challenge.

The trophy presentation was only one part of the Crosstown Challenge week, which also included a Chick-Fil-A decoration competition. In the contest, students from Oswego and Oswego East decorated one half of a local Chick-Fil-A, with customers voting for the best decorations. Oswego High School won the contest, winning a $1,000 gift from Chick-Fil-A.

Both schools also participated in a School District 308 food drive, which collected over 286,000 food items for local needy families. This was the first year that food drive included Village Hall, Oswego Police Department, Oswego Fire Department, Oswego Library and Oswego Park District.
