Oswego Man Finishes 6th Place Overall At Chicago Marathon

In all, 34 local runners finished Sunday's 26.2-mile race.

CHICAGO, IL — It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Not run since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants. There were 34 Oswego runners who finished the marathon, including one man who came in 6th place overall.

The marathon was won by Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, and Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya, in 2 hours, 6.12 seconds, and 2:22:31, respectively. Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, won the wheelchair race. They finished at 1:29:07 and 1:48:57, respectively.

Participants in this year's race were required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of attending the event.
