Oswego Movies In The Park Return With A Splash

This year's movies include "Incredibles 2," "The Secret Life of Pets" and "Mary Poppins Returns."

OSWEGO, IL — Love catching a movie in the great outdoors? Oswego’s Movies in the Park series returns starting Thursday, June 6, with outdoor movie experiences that are fun for the whole family.

Thanks to a partnership with the City of Yorkville, Oswego residents will have the regular Movies in the Park season, plus the opportunity to see Incredibles 2 at Raging Waves Waterpark and a retro drive-in movie showing of The Greatest Showman at the Park N Ride lot.

Movies in the Park is free to residents, and food or treat vendors will be selling snacks most dates. Films begin at dusk, approximately 8 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome.

Parking is free, based upon availability.

The 2019 Movies in the Park season includes:

  • Thursday, June 6: Incredibles 2 at Raging Waves. The Incredibles hero family takes on a new mission, which involves a change in family roles: Mr. Incredible must manage the house while his wife Helen, a.k.a. Elastigirl, goes out to save the world. Rated ages 8+ by Commonsense Media. Location: Raging Waves Water Park. Pre-film activities begin at 6:30 p.m. Please note: No outside food or beverages are allowed at this location, however, the Hungry Croc Restaurant will be open for service.
  • Thursday, June 20: The Secret Life of Pets. The quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes. Rated ages 6+ by Common Sense Media. Location: Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill.
  • Thursday, July 18: Mary Poppins Returns. Decades after her original visit, the magical nanny returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael's children through a difficult time in their lives. Rated ages 6+ by Common Sense Media. Location: Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill.
  • Thursday, August 8: The Greatest Showman at the Dine N Drive. This musical biopic about the life of PT Barnum celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. Rated ages 10+ by Common Sense Media. Location: Oswego Park N Ride, Station Drive. There is limited visibility in some locations; lawn chairs recommended.

Make a splash at a discounted rate, then see Incredibles 2

Join the Village of Oswego and the City of Yorkville for a whole day of fun, with discounted tickets to Raging Waves Waterpark. Purchase general admission (over 48 inches) tickets to Raging Waves for Thursday, June 6, for just $15.99 then stay for the movie, and get a free bag of popcorn. Purchase discounted tickets at www.ragingwaves.com using code INCREDIBLES19. This special cannot be combined with any other promos or discounts. The ticket and popcorn voucher are only valid on Thursday, June 6.

Movie-goers who do not purchase Raging Waves tickets can enter the park for free at 6:30 p.m. for pre-movie entertainment including a bounce house, DJ, and more. Enter at the southwest gate from the parking lot.

Dine N Drive at the Park N Ride

Oswego and Yorkville will also host a retro drive-in movie experience at the Park N Ride lot, on Station Drive in Oswego, for The Greatest Showman. Bring the whole family to watch the film from your car, plus enjoy food from area food trucks, and pre-movie family-friendly activities, beginning at 7 p.m.
