OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police's enforcement campaign for the Fourth of July yielded a total of 53 tickets, officials said Monday.

The Oswego Police Department was one of more than 200 state and local law enforcement agencies that joined forces to buckle down on inebriated drivers, encourage seat belt use and enforce traffic laws. The campaign began June 21 and lasted into the early morning hours of July 8.

Officers issued 49 citations for unrestrained passengers and four for distracted driving. Police also made three arrests for driver's license issues.
