Oswego Police Reveal How Many Citations Were Issued In July Campaign

The Oswego Police Department participated in a month-long traffic safety campaign to remind drivers "to slow down to save lives."

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police revealed Friday evening how many citations they issued in July's traffic enforcement campaign.

Throughout the month, police partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to increase patrols looking for speeding and other traffic violations. The goal was to remind drivers "to slow down to save lives," officials said.

Police wrote a total of 110 tickets. Here's the breakdown of citations issued:

  • 83 speeding
  • 16 seat belt
  • 1 child seat violation
  • 3 distracted driving
  • 3 uninsured drivers
  • 2 other violations
  • 2 no valid driver's license

Police also made 11 drug-related arrests during the month-long campaign, which was paid for using federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
