OSWEGO, IL — Crews from the Oswego Public Works Department have already taken to the roads to get them ready for the incoming snowstorm, officials said.

The village's team is pre-treating roads with salt, and snowplows are "prepped and ready to roll," officials said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon.

A "significant winter storm" is approaching the Chicago area and is expected to move in from mid-morning through mid-afternoon Thursday, Patch reported. A flash freeze is possible Thursday as temperatures could drop 20 to 30 degrees in just a few hours.

When snowplows get going, crews will prioritize busy connecting roads before addressing residential streets. Village officials noted state crews plow Route 30, Route 34, Route 71 and Route 25, and Kendall County is in charge of clearing Orchard Road.

Once snow begins accumulating, parking within the village becomes restricted. Cars cannot be parked on Oswego streets after 2 inches of snow, or 1 inch downtown, until roads have been cleared.
