Oswego Student Artwork Headed To Nation's Capital

Jocelyn Arroyo, a recent graduate of Oswego High School, was selected as Best in Show at Congressman Bill Foster's high school art contest.

OSWEGO, IL — Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The contest, which began in 1982, is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district of young constituents. The over-all winner’s artwork of each district’s competition is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. along with the winners from the other districts across the country.

This year, Jocelyn Arroyo, a recent graduate of Oswego High School, was selected as Best in Show at Congressman Bill Foster’s 11th Congressional High School Art Competition and will have the distinction of having her piece displayed at the U.S. Capitol this summer and throughout the year. She also received two round trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to attend the Opening in Washington, D.C. this June.

The following individuals also participated and displayed artwork at Congressman Bill Foster’s 11th Congressional High School Art Competition for consideration: Marc Plasky (junior), Bailey Nickerson (graduate), Devin Brown (junior), Isabel Valdez (junior), Dominique Daniels (junior), Olivia Raimondi (freshman), Ciara Isidro (junior), and Moira Sutton (graduate).
