OSWEGO, IL — The Village of Oswego has a date when Wolf's Crossing Road will reopen to traffic, officials announced Tuesday.

Staff received confirmation that Wolf's Crossing Road from Harvey Road to Devoe Drive will reopen on Dec. 29. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10 a.m., and traffic will be ushered onto the busy thoroughfare at noon.

Utility delays pushed the projected reopening of early December to just days before the new year.

"We're thrilled that the first segment of Wolf's Crossing improvements will reopen to traffic by the end of the year," Village President Ryan Kauffman said in a statement. "We appreciate the patience of our residents and area drivers during this vital infrastructure project that will make a huge difference for years to come."

Landscaping, restoration, and the final pavement surface course will be completed in the spring. A bike path is also planned in the area.

Wolf's Crossing is in the process of being widened to a modern, four-lane road designed to be a gateway to the community and to accommodate current and future growth in Oswego. The first step of the $10.2 million project — nearly half funded by state and federal grants — included creating the roundabout and widening the road between Harvey Road and Devoe Drive.

The area was the first to be targeted because of its proximity to Oswego East High School and the traffic volume in the area, officials said.
