St. Patrick's Day Enforcement Leads To 48 Citations: Oswego PD

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police's St. Patrick's Day enforcement yielded a total of 48 tickets, officials said Wednesday.

During the March 8-17 campaign, officers stepped up impaired driving and seat belt enforcement, particularly at night when usage is typically the lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and all traffic laws were also strictly enforced, Patch reported.

Citations issued include the following:

  • 35 for seat belt violations
  • 6 for cell phone violations
  • 4 for no insurance
  • 1 for speeding violations
  • 2 other traffic violations

"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," Sergeant Brian Nehring said in a statement.
