KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has received the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Use of Force Certification. The Sheriff’s Office was first certified in 2021, for a certification period of three years, at which time the review process was undertaken once again.

The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, through its Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP), is the primary certifying body in Illinois. The criteria set forth by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Use of Force Certification Program looks at not only federal mandates required for the previous Federal Use of Force Certification but also additional criteria that embraced best practices, along with the major operational requirements of the SAFE-T Act. It was also recently updated to show compliance with the United Nations Human Rights Guidance on Less-Lethal Weapons. Following a thorough review of our current standards relating to training, policy, and other areas by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the certifying body found the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office continues to meet the conditions required for certification. The Sheriff’s Office is very proud of this certification and continues to strive to maintain the highest standards in law enforcement service and professionalism.
