Week Ahead Weather: Limited Thunderstorm Warning Issued

OSWEGO, IL -- The National Weather Service has issued a limited thunderstorm warning for the area this week. Storms are expected on Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday.

The report reads: "Scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Severe weather is not expected, but any thunderstorms could bring a few wind gusts to 40 mph. In addition...flooding is expected along portions of the Kankakee river."

This week, storms are expected to yield to sunny skies for the middle of the week. Starting on Thursday, thunderstorms are expected to hit the area through Saturday.

Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm, then a slight chance of showers between 7pm and 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 48. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light west in the evening.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74.
