OSWEGO, IL — Work on the new roundabout at the intersection of Harvey and Wolf's Crossing roads is expected to be completed by the end of November, Oswego officials forecast.

In an update Thursday, village staff said "significant progress" has been made on the first phase of the project. The current stop-controlled intersection with Harvey Road is in the process of being replaced with a modern roundabout as part of the village's plan to widen Wolf's Crossing.

Although the current projection is for the intersection to reopen in November, officials said due to utility delays, there is a possibility the road won't reopen until early December.

"Our contractors are working hard to open the road as soon as possible," the update reads.

Landscaping, restoration and the final pavement surface course will be completed in the spring.

The change is part of the village's plan to widen Wolf's Crossing to a modern, four-lane road "to serve as a new gateway to our community and to accommodate current and future growth," officials said.

The project has been underway since early April when the village's contractor began stripping topsoil, preparing the subgrade, installing storm sewers and catch basins, and constructing a detention basin.

The intersection of Harvey Road and Wolf's Crossing Road has been shut down since the end of May.

The Wolf Corridor Advisory Team, which studied current and projected traffic demands, determined adding the roundabout was the "most effective and safest way to manage traffic" in the area, Patch reported.
