2024 Stagg High School Football Schedule Released

PALOS HILLS, IL — High school football players will be taking to the gridiron as practices can officially start on Aug. 12.

A nine-game regular season, released Thursday, runs through the end of October, before culminating with the Illinois High School Association Football State Finals (November 29 to 30) at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal. The IHSA will be celebrating its 50th state championship games.

The Illinois High School Association, in partnership with Max Preps, recently announced schedules for the varsity teams. In Palos Hills, fans will especially be keeping tabs on the local teams at Stagg and Shepard, as well as the area Catholic high schools.

This fall, Amos Alonzo Stagg High School will be joined in the Southwest Valley Green Conference by Waubonsie Valley (Aurora), Bradley-Bourbonnais (Aurora), DeKalb, Lincoln-Way Central (New Lenox) high schools.

Jacob O’Connor returns as the head coach of the varsity Chargers football team, which finished the 2023 season with a 3-6 overall record in the Southwest Valley Green Conference.

Locally, Stagg’s regular season begins at home Aug. 30 when the Chargers entertain the Joliet Central Steelmen. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
