Mahoney Endorses Milovich-Walters In Palos Park Mayoral Race

PALOS PARK, IL — It has been my greatest privilege and honor to serve as the Mayor of the Village of Palos Park for sixteen years. When I decided not to run for a fifth term, I worked very hard to convince Commissioner Nicole Milovich-Walters to run to replace me as Mayor. Nicole Milovich-Walters has served on the Village Council for 16 years as Commissioner of Public Works and Recreation. That experience, as well as her boundless energy and even temperament, makes her the best candidate to be the next Mayor of the Village of Palos Park.

During Nicole’s 16-year tenure, she has:

• Been an integral force in developing conservative budgets and significantly reduced Village debt, while increasing general fund reserve to over 50 percent of the general fund balance, in an environment where state shared revenues like income tax have been reduced and through a pandemic crisis.
• Supported the Village Police Department’s efforts to engage the Palos Park community and to promote and enhance public safety.
• Transformed the Chili Cook Off into a two-day Autumn in the Park event and promoted and enhanced the Village’s small and close-knit community feel through more small community events.
• Protected the Village’s natural features and openness.
• Developed a strong collaboration with the Cook County Forest Preserve, including many joint programs and initiatives.
• Promoted, supported and worked with all stakeholders to ensure the development and opening of the Cal-Sag Trail; and
• Developed and implemented a $3 million local road pavement plan and ensured that there is enough current funding to repair and maintain our local roads well into the future.

Nicole’s opponent in this race has run the most divisive and negative campaign in our Village’s history. She sows the seeds of chaos in every organization in which she has been involved. She is supported by players that want to turn Palos Park towards Springfield/Chicago politics, where the privileged and powerful have the only voice. Our Village Council has worked tirelessly to build a Village Staff and Police Department that is committed to the highest levels of service. All that we have worked for the past 16 years is in jeopardy in this election.

The choice is clear. Nicole Milovich-Walters has the experience, energy and relationship building skills to be the next Mayor of Palos Park. Nicole has worked tirelessly in this campaign to make sure that our Palos Park is governed by the people and for the people. On April 4, I urge you to elect Nicole Milovich-Walters as your Mayor for the next four years.
