Now Closed Forever: Pizza For U In Shorewood No Longer In Business

SHOREWOOD, IL — People in Shorewood who enjoyed the Pizza For U takeout restaurant on Route 59 will now have to travel all the way to Larkin Avenue in Joliet or the Pizza For U restaurant on Route 6 in Channahon. The one is Shorewood is gone.

"It is with our sincerest apologies that we are sad to announce that the new owner of the Shorewood location has decided to close due to ongoing health concerns," Pizza For U announced on Facebook late Wednesday afternoon. "To the Shorewood customers, our Joliet and Channahon locations are ready to serve your carryout needs."

In March, Patch produced a feature story on the Channahon Pizza For U restaurant.

In that story, Channahon's general manager Steven Flynn said that while the restaurant might be named Pizza For U, many of his most popular menu items aren't pizza at all.

"The sandwiches," he said. "The half-pound burger is actually pretty good I would try to twist their arm on the half-pound burger first," Flynn said. "Otherwise, with something else, the pocket is always a good go-to."
