Olympic Swimmer Rowdy Gaines to Speak at St. Charles Water Safety Event

Goldfish Swim School and the Pauly D Foundation sponsor Friday's event, which stresses importance of basic water safety skills for kids.

Olympic swimmer Rowdy Gaines will be on hand as part of a water safety awareness event Friday at Goldfish Swim School in St. Charles.

The event, which runs from 3 to 5 p.m., is a joint effort by Goldfish Swim School and the Pauly D Foundation to emphasize the importance of teaching kids basic water safety skills. The Pauly D Foundation, named after Pauly Delle Grazie, a Chicago-area 4-year-old who drowned in June, works raise awareness about water safety when it comes to children.

During the event, school staffers will demonstrate water safety skills, and families from St. Charles will work on a water safety awareness mural. The Delle Grazie family also will kick off fundraising efforts for the Pauly D Foundation.
