SUV Collides With Bus In Kane County

KANE COUNTY, IL — No one was injured when a sports utility vehicle collided with a bus in Kane County Wednesday morning.

The collision happened at about 6:40 a.m. when a Kaneland School District 302 bus was transporting three students and heading south on Meredith Road, approaching the parking lot at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5N539 Meredith Road, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The bus signaled to turn into the parking lot at the church as a Ford Explorer attempted to pass the school bus in a solid striped no passing zone, according to the news release.

The Ford, when trying to pass the school bus, hit the front driver-side wheel and bumpers of the school bus and became disabled in the roadway.

The 58-year-old driver of the SUV, a Belvedere man, received a citation for passing in a no passing zone.
