BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge is emphasizing the governor's latest mandate that restaurant employees must be masked when interacting with customers. That goes for customers as well. On Wednesday, Mayor Gary Grasso sent a letter to every restaurant and bar about this issue.

"So far, the local (coronavirus case) count is trending downward, but that is cautious optimism on my part," Grasso said in his weekly coronavirus update Friday. "That our Burr Ridge cases are trending downward is not a signal to leave your mask off or wear it around your chin, as I have seen people do, or to feel otherwise complacent."

As of Sunday, Burr Ridge saw four new cases in the previous week, for a total of 210, or a 2 percent hike, according to county health authorities. Deaths during the pandemic have numbered 23 in the village, government figures show.
