NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — This November, Patch is celebrating "30 Days of Gratitude," stories about living with gratitude — in simple terms, a deliberate choice to see the goodness and joy in your life and to wish the same for your neighbors.

Living with gratitude is a matter of continually counting one's blessings while at the same time recognizing that the source of goodness in one's life is other people.

Earlier this month, we asked Illinois residents to share who or what they were grateful for. Here's what your neighbors in Glencoe, Wilmette and Winnetka had to say:

"Since 2000, New Trier seniors have supported and participated in the construction of a home for a Habitat for Humanity partner family. I’d like to show my gratitude for the many wonderful parents, teachers, and community members who have supported The New Trier Habitat project over its 22 year history. With the support of these kind people, the group has been able to help out families in need of financial support for years. So, the thing I am grateful for, and the whole Class of ‘22 Leadership Board is grateful for, is the generosity and kindness of the community members who support New Trier’s Habitat for Humanity Senior class service project on in its journey to help people who are in need in our neighboring communities."

— Eoghan Sach, member of the 2022 Habitat for Humanity senior leadership board at New Trier High School.
