Glencoe Rabbi Is 'Go To Guy' When Need Has Presented In Community

GLENCOE, IL — Without community leaders, Glencoe wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Katie Sweeney, a Winnetka-Glencoe Patch reader and local animal control officer, who nominated Rabbi Steven Stark Lowenstein.

Have known Rabbi Steve for over 20 years. He has assisted with many events in the Village of Glencoe

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?
Rabbi Steve has been my 'Go to Guy' for many, many years. I was in charge of the Holiday Food & Toy Drive for the Village of Glencoe & I could ALWAYS count of Rabbi Steve to help with generous donations when we fell short on making holidays brighter for those in need. I also have turned to Rabbi when a need has presented within our community. Recently a senior resident needed a place to stay while waiting for optional housing. She did not have the funds to stay in a hotel, but a quick stop to Rabbi Steve and she had costs covered. He has also been the lead for many events such as 9/11 remembrance each year, community gatherings to honor those killed in Highland Park, support for the sick, elderly and in need to name but a few. His compassion has no limits!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?
No matter what race, gender, age, religious or political beliefs - Rabbi Steve will always lend a caring & compassionate ear. His love for all has no boundaries.
