The Helmar Lutheran Church (HLC) Food Pantry has just received some new refrigeration capacity thanks to local dairy farmer, John Scidmore. The industrial grade refrigeration unit was provided through a Community Relief Grant setup by Midwest Dairy, an organization representing 6,500 hardworking dairy farm families throughout the Midwest.

“John and Angie Scidmore, local Dairy Farmers and friends of the pantry, applied for a community relief grant and we are fortunate to receive one,” stated Linda Mathre, President of HLC Food Pantry, “This unit will help keep the families our food pantry serves nourished with dairy and other perishable items during this unprecedented time.”

The HLC Food Pantry has grown from serving 10 to 120 families, twice a month, in our 12 years of operation. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please contact Linda Mathre at 815-210-0985 or come to Helmar Church(11935 Lisbon Road, Rural Newark, IL) during pantry distribution on the 2nd Friday of each month from 5-7pm and also on the 4th Monday from 3-5pm. We serve the Newark, Millbrook, Yorkville, Millington, Platteville, Lisbon and Plano areas.
