Best Companies To Work For: Indiana Businesses On Fortune's List

Four companies with Indiana locations snagged spots on Fortune's list.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Four companies with Indianapolis locations snagged spots on Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. One of these companies even scored the number one spot on Fortune's list, and their Indiana location sits in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

The companies with Indianapolis locations that made the list are:

  • Salesforce, (1): Industry - Information Technology, Software; U.S. employees - 17,417; HQ location - San Francisco, CA
  • Crowe Horwath LLP, (62): Industry -Professional Services, Consulting, Management; U.S. employees - 3,600; HQ location - Chicago, IL
  • Kronos Incorporated, (81): Industry - Information Technology, Software; U.S. employees - 3,523; HQ location - Lowell, MA
  • FedEx Corporation, (94): Industry - Transportation, Package Transport; U.S. employees - 281,933; HQ location - Memphis, TN

As you can see, the No. 1 company on the list was Salesforce, which Fortune credits for forging an “unusual corporate culture from the beginning.” Salesforce has paid out $5.5 million to employees who have referred new hires and they help strong performers find new challenges.

To be considered for the list, a company has to have at least 1000 employees, according to Fortune. The list measured companies in the U.S. on characteristics like innovation and people-focused programs. Fortune scores each company on an analysis of anonymous employee responses to a survey along with an evaluation of company programs and practices. You can read more about Fortune’s methodology here.

Fortune said it received feedback from more than 315,000 employees to determine the winners.
