Boone County Latest Indiana Spot Vying For Amazon Headquarters

DETAILS: The latest proposal out of Indiana for Amazon's second, new headquarters location.

BOONE COUNTY, IN — Another Indiana location is aboard the Amazon proposal train, as one of the many spots vying for the chance to house the Seattle-based company's second headquarters. Boone County will submit five location possibilities in an effort to bring the new headquarters to the area, IndyStar reports, as Amazon already has a distribution center in Whitestown and warehouses that employ thousands of people in Indianapolis, Plainfield and Jeffersonville. The e-commerce giant announced a decision this month to build a second headquarters, and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness immediately jumped on board in agreement to work together on a regional proposal which includes Carmel, Noblesville and Westfield, IndyStar reports.

Amazon plans to invest $5 billion in the new headquarters campus and hire as many as 50,000 workers.
The company plans to choose the winning location in 2018, and all proposals are due to Amazon by next month.
