Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. A summer program is working to combat an increase in youth homicide victims in Indy. Kareem Hines' youth boxing program, β€œGuns Down, Gloves Up” is run through his New Breed of Youth (or New B.O.Y.) organization. City leaders are hoping to curb the youth homicide trend in the city through the Safe Summer Program. The program will run from Jun. 10 to Aug. 5. See all the details at the link.   2. The Pack the Pantries fundraiser tallied a final total of $59,000 for Indy's local food banks. For more than 24 hours, Indianapolis residents helped FOX59 and CBS4 Pack the Pantries through monetary donations. The news stations teamed up with Midwest Food Bank and Gleaners Food Bank to raise $59,066.36 to help put food on the table for Hoosier families. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
  3. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Police recently released a body cam video of officers rescuing two toddlers and a mother from an Indianapolis fire. Last Monday, first responders were sent to the fire at apartments on Burkhart Drive where they found the complex engulfed in flames. Twenty people had to be evacuated from the fire and no one was seriously injured. See the video at the link. (WDTN.com)
