Southwest Airlines Cancelled Flights Include Some In Indianapolis

The Federal Aviation Administration mandated the Southwest inspections after an April 17 engine failure that killed one woman.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A number of Southwest Airlines flights at Indianapolis International Airport are delayed or cancelled as the Dallas-based airlines has nixed more than 140 flights as of Monday as a result of Federal Aviation Administration-mandated engine inspections.

The FAA order demands an inspection of all engines identical to the one that failed during a deadly Dallas-bound flight forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia on April 17.

The FAA order affects more than 300 U.S. planes including some in Indianapolis, which must be inspected within 30 days.
