  1. On Friday, a group of men robbed several drivers at a Lafayette truck stop, according to reports filed with the sheriff's office. At a truck stop at Schuyler Avenue and Tippecanoe County Road 200 North, a group of men were canvasing the parking lot asking for money. On three distinct occasions, they demanded $400, $100, and $200 from three separate truck drivers, who complied with their requests after seeing the men's weapons. Police are still searching for the robbers as the investigation continues. (Journal & Courier)
  2. Yesterday, the Biden administration announced that it has awarded more than $1.4 billion to projects that improve railway safety and boost capacity β€” and Indiana is among 35 states to receive those funds. These initiatives aim to enhance railway safety, connectivity, and resilience, benefiting various communities and strengthening supply chains nationwide. Projects include track upgrades, bridge repairs, and measures to mitigate extreme weather vulnerabilities, with Indiana receiving $10.8 million for rail improvements and other states benefiting from grants for restoring passenger services and modernizing rail infrastructure. 3. On Saturday morning, Lafayette police arrested a man for murder following a shooting on the 1100 block of N. 12th Street. When officers were dispatched and arrived at the scene, they located a dead adult male in a vehicle who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. They arrested a suspect, who got into an altercation with the victim prior to the shooting. Even though the arrest has been made, the investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
