2 Alarm Fire On Webster Street In New Orleans

Firefighters immediately began an aggressive exterior attack on the bulk of the fire which appeared to originate under the carport.

On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 6:09 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to reports of a fire in a two-story masonry building at 1430 Webster St. The first company arrived on the scene at 6:14 pm, reporting an attached carport heavily involved with fire and heavy smoke coming from the main structure. Firefighters immediately began an aggressive exterior attack on the bulk of the fire which appeared to originate under the carport. Additional crews simultaneously began a primary search of the interior of the home. Their primary goal was to ensure no residents remained inside the building.

The incident commander knew this fire would exceed the ability for just the one alarm companies to handle alone due to the size of the home as well as the hot and humid conditions crews were working in. A second alarm was called for at 6:23 pm. for additional; manpower. Fire crews were able to gain control of the fire once additional resources arrived on the scene. The exterior carport suffered extensive fire damage. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from reaching the interior of the home. Unfortunately, the main structure did receive significant smoke and water damage.

Eighteen NOFD units carrying forty Fire Operations personnel were deployed to the scene of this fire. The fire was placed under control at 6:58 pm. There are no reports of any civilian or firefighter injuries. The New Orleans Police Department, Entergy Gas and Electric also assisted in mitigation of this incident.
