NOLA FD Responded To Two-Alarm Fire At Home At 5352 Bancroft St. Wednesday

The adult male occupant and his dog escaped without injury.

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 11:09 am, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a fire in a two-story family dwelling located at 5352 Bancroft Street. The first company arrived on the scene at 11:14 am, reporting heavy fire coming from the roof line and rear of the home. Firefighters entered the building and began a primary search while preparing to aggressively attack the fire. The fast spread prompted the call for a second alarm at 11:20 am. The fire started in the second floor gas fireplace and spread to several rooms and into the attic. Fire crews were able to quickly gain control of the fire once additional resources arrived on the scene. The structure sustained heavy fire damage to much of the second floor. One adult male was home at the time of the fire and called 911. The adult male and his dog escaped without injury.

Sixteen NOFD units carrying thirty-eight Fire Operations personnel were deployed to the scene of this fire. The fire was placed under control at 11:41 am. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and Entergy assisted in mitigation of this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
