Coast Guard Saves 2 Off Mount Desert

The fishing boat Jammie Dodger hit a submerged object and started flooding with two onboard near Bear Island Saturday, the Coast Guard said.

BEAR ISLAND, ME — The Coast Guard on Saturday said crews rescued two people aboard a flooding fishing boat off Mount Desert. The 28-foot "Jammie Dodger" hit a submerged object around noon near Bear Island and started flooding, according to the Coast Guard. The captain called Coast Guard Station Southwest Harbor for help.

A Coast Guard boat crew was dispatched and towed the vessel to safety as the fishing boat's pumps kept up with the flooding, officials said. No one was hurt.
