Dog Attack: Court Hearing Set For Husky Pardoned In Maine

Paul LePage's pardon made a celebrity out of the dog, named Dakota, which was ordered to be put down after the attack.

AUGUSTA, ME — A court hearing could decide the fate of an Alaskan husky that attacked two dogs, killing one, and was spared euthanasia by a pardon from Gov. Paul LePage.

The Republican LePage's pardon made a celebrity out of the dog, named Dakota, which was ordered to be put down after the attack. The hearing is slated for Monday.

It's debatable whether the governor has the authority to pardon the dog, but it could become moot depending on the outcome of the hearing that could permanently lift the order to euthanize the dog.
