MARYLAND — Six Maryland counties plus the city of Baltimore are under a flash flood watch that begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday and will continue through the night.

The counties the National Weather Service included in the watch are Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, Harford, and Baltimore counties, plus the city of Baltimore. Portions of Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia are also under the watch.

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," said the National Weather Service. "Creeks and streams may rise rapidly out of their banks. Flooding may occur quickly in poor drainage and urban areas."
