Stabbing At Subway Restaurant In Odenton: Suspect Arrested, Identified As Glen Burnie Man

A Glen Burnie man was arrested and charged with a stabbing at an Odenton Subway restaurant. The fight followed a child custody dispute.

ODENTON, MD β€” The suspect accused of stabbing a man during a child custody dispute at a Subway restaurant in Odenton was arrested, police announced Friday.

Officers identified the arrestee as a 30-year-old Glen Burnie man. Patch is withholding his name for the privacy of his child.

Authorities said the victim and the suspect were both hospitalized after the fight at the Piney Orchard shopping center, also known as Piney Orchard Marketplace.

The suspect received medical treatment for an unknown minor injury, police said.

Officers said they arrested the suspect after his treatment.

Online court records do not yet list the exact charges against the suspect.

Authorities said the victim was stabbed in the torso and was in serious condition. Police expect him to survive.

Officers did not respond to our request for an update on the victim's condition by the time we published this story.

How It Happened

Authorities said they heard about the stabbing Thursday around 12:47 p.m.

Police said the victim was at the Subway, located at 8765 Piney Orchard Parkway, with his girlfriend and her child.

Officers said the suspect, a former significant other of the girlfriend and the father of the child, arrived at the restaurant.

An argument broke out and the suspect tried to grab the child, authorities said.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said the victim intervened and a physical fight started with the suspect, leading the suspect to stab the victim.

Six police cars were blocking off the road when Patch arrived around 1:50 p.m. They left the area just before 3 p.m.

Subway closed temporarily for the investigation and clean-up. The restaurant has since reopened.

The surrounding businesses remained open throughout the investigation.
