Bodycam Footage Shows Arrest Of Rachel Morin's Accused Killer At Tulsa Bar: Report

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Newly released body camera footage shows police arresting Victor Martinez-Hernandez at a bar in Oklahoma, according to a Baltimore Sun report. Martinez-Hernandez is accused of killing and raping Bel Air mom Rachel Morin in August 2023.

“It’s possible that he’s in there and he’s sitting at the bar,” a Tulsa Police officer said as officers gathered outside Los Dos Amigos Sports Bar in Tulsa on June 14, 2024, according to footage obtained by the Sun.

The officers then walked into the mostly empty bar, approached three men, and took the 23-year-old Martinez-Hernandez outside, where they handcuffed him, the Sun reported.

In the video, Martinez-Hernandez first tells officers his name is Juan Carlos and that he doesn’t have a cell phone or ID. Using a photo, officers identified him by his teeth, according to the Sun. In the video, Martinez-Hernandez was wearing a yellow shirt, a hat and sunglasses as police asked him whether he was from El Salvador.

Martinez-Hernandez is currently scheduled to stand trial in October on multiple charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

He is accused of killing Morin, 37, whose body was found along the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air in August 2023. Morin, a mother of five, frequently jogged the trail near where she was found raped and beaten to death.

DNA has also linked Hernandez to the March 2023 home invasion and sexual assault in southern California of a 9-year-old girl and her mother. Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said at a news conference following the suspect's arrest that Hernandez is also a suspect in the homicide of a young woman in El Salvador in July 2023, one month before Morin's death.

According to Gahler, Martinez-Hernandez illegally entered the United States in February 2023, and traveled to Los Angeles to Harford County, then Prince George's County, Virginia, then Oklahoma.

Gahler said officials have learned that Morin apparently wasn't the suspect's first victim. The sheriff said Martinez-Hernandez fled to the U.S. after killing a young woman in El Salvador one month prior in July 2023.

Detectives learned that Hernandez was living in Maryland with relatives during most of the investigation into Morin's death. He was arrested in Tulsa on unrelated charges.
