Crash Injures 3, Causes Major Delays On Beltway Near River Road

POTOMAC, MD — Several lanes on both sides of Interstate 495 near the River Road exit in Montgomery County were blocked after a crash early Monday afternoon injured three drivers and caused debris to block travel lanes, according to fire and rescue officials.

At 1 p.m., four lanes remained blocked on the inner loop of the Beltway and two lanes were blocked on the outer loop near River Road, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Peter Piringer said in a tweet.

Officials finished clearing the section of the Beltway shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday.

Paramedics evaluated three people involved in the crash, Piringer said. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

In the crash, a box truck collided with another vehicle, overturned and then rolled, Piringer said. The truck was carrying ceiling tiles, WTOP reported.
