Driver Of Pickup Truck Killed In Early Morning Crash In Chevy Chase

The driver of a Dodge pickup truck, Jobani Alfredo Cruz of D.C., was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

CHEVY CHASE, MD — Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Chevy Chase in the early morning hours of Saturday.

At about 12:20 a.m., Montgomery County Police, Chevy Chase Village Police, and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue responded to the area of Connecticut Avenue at Quincy Street for the report of a collision involving a white 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and a white 2012 Mercedes SLK.

Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue, approaching Quincy Street when, for reasons unknown at this time, they collided in the roadway, police said.

After the initial contact, the Dodge truck struck a Pepco pole and several trees, while the Mercedes overturned. During the collision, the driver of the Dodge, 29-year-old, Jobani Alfredo Cruz of Washington, D.C., was ejected from the truck, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A woman passenger in the Dodge truck and the adult male driver of the Mercedes were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
