MARYLAND — Following a week of rain, another storm is on its way toward Maryland, bringing drenching rains and minor flooding.

Though things will be drier Thursday and Friday, another round of rain is expected Saturday into Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of Maryland is expected to see half an inch to one inch of rainfall, forecasters say.

The amount of rain expected would not normally be enough for flooding concerns, but forecasters say that the already wet ground increases the potential for some minor flooding on rivers and streams.

"Friday may end up being the best day of the week for travel and outdoor plans throughout the Eastern Seaboard," AccuWeather reported Thursday.

WJZ News reported Thursday that quiet and dry weather will continue into Friday as a weak area of high pressure is in control of the weather.

On Saturday, the next storm will pull warm air through much of the Atlantic coast and into the Appalachians, AccuWeather Meteorologist Joseph Bauer said. The system will tap into moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean and wring it out over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, according to Bauer.

"Our next storm will arrive Saturday and bring rounds of rain and wind with it," WJZ News said. "Clouds will thicken Friday evening ahead of the system. Wet weather will start Saturday morning and turn steady and windswept in the afternoon and evening."

Forecasters at WJZ News said central Maryland could see an additional half inch to inch of rain from this storm. Highs will top out in the lower to middle 50s.

Clouds will "race away early Sunday," giving way to blustery north winds, making the low 50s feel more like the low 40s for highs, according to the Capital Weather Gang.
