Sleepwear Boutique In Bethesda Shuts Down After A Year In Business

BETHESDA, MD — A sleepwear boutique in downtown Bethesda has closed its doors after opening only a year ago, according to a report.

The boutique, Claire de Lune Sleepwear, has closed at 4925 Elm Street at the Shoppes of Bethesda, Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row reported Wednesday.

“Lasting only one year, this enterprise that promised dreamy evening wear instead turned out to be a nightmare on Elm Street,” Robert Dyer wrote in his article.

The boutique was located in the space previously occupied by GNC at the Shoppes of Bethesda.

Claire de Lune was founded more than 15 years ago in Lima, Peru, according to the company's website. Carmen Glaser, the company’s founder, wanted to improve people’s sleep by crafting the finest sleepwear in the world with Peruvian Pima Cotton.

The company's name was inspired by the classical masterpiece, composed by Claude Debussy, “Clair de Lune.” Glaser wanted her clients to feel like they were "sleeping on clouds," the company's website says.
