Attempted Carjacking With Shots Fired + Fatal Stabbing At Park: Police

Greenbelt Police reported an attempted carjacking with shots fired that happened Wednesday while a fatal stabbing took place at a park.

GREENBELT, MD β€” Two suspects attempted to carjack a woman Wednesday shortly before 9 a.m. who was sitting in her vehicle near the 9200 block of Springhill Lane, according to police. One of the suspects fired shots at witnesses.

According to Greenbelt Police, one of the suspects climbed into the woman's car and said the suspect was robbing her. She ran away from her car, which caught the attention of witnesses who approached the suspects. One of the suspects hopped out of the vehicle and fired a gun, which caused the witnesses to scatter. The suspects then climbed into another vehicle and took off. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 301-474-7200.

In related news, U.S. Park Police officers arrested the suspect they say fatally stabbed a man at Greenbelt Park. Police received a report Monday around 9 a.m. about a man with stab wounds. They found Jeffery Strong, 38, of Washington, D.C., dead at the scene. Later that day, Ronald Brisbon, 63, also from Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with murder on federal lands, police said.
