2 National Drug Take Back Day Events Planned For Saturday In Howard County

Howard County residents can dispose of unwanted and unused medication, EpiPens and other related items Saturday at two events.

COLUMBIA, MD — There will be a drive-through medication and sharps disposal event Saturday in the Wilde Lake Village Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organized by HC DrugFree, the event is part of National Drug Take Back Day. All collected medications are guarded and transported by the Howard County Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Drop off any prescriptions or over-the-counter medications, syringes, Epi-Pens, vitamins and even pet medications. Event organizers also will be giving away 100 medication storage lockboxes to the first 100 vehicles at the drive-through event. The Wilde Lake Village Center is located at 5305 Village Center Drive in Columbia.

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center also will collect and dispose of unused, expired and unwanted drugs as part of National Prescription Drug Take-back Day. They'll be accepting all types of medicines at a drive-through event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main entrance, 5755 Cedar Lane, Columbia.

At the October 2023 Drug Take-back Day, Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center collected 174 pounds of unwanted medications.
