HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Repairs to the southbound I-95 bridge over the Patapsco River and CSX rail line at the border of Baltimore and Howard counties will close multiple lanes overnight next week, state highway officials said.

Crews will repair damaged joints from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Friday, March 12-17, a news release from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration said.

Starting at 10 p.m. each night, crews will close two lanes on the southbound I-95 bridge in the Elkridge area, with a third lane closing at midnight, leaving one lane open to traffic.

The SHA said drivers traveling during the nighttime work hours should consider using US 1 (Washington Boulevard), US 29 (Columbia Pike) or MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) as alternate routes.

Electronic signs, reflective barrels and cones will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone. The work is a continuation of a repair project that began earlier this year on the northbound I-95 bridge.
